Tibet's medical work development in eyes of a CPPCC member

In 2018, when Premier Li Keqiang visited the Tibet Plateau Medical Research Institute, he pointed out that high altitude sickness was the main health threat to the people living on the plateau, and it also discouraged some people from coming to work in Tibet. He hoped that medical personnel would put efforts in research and overcome high altitude sickness sooner.

Dr. Kelsang Norbu, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and vice president of the Tibet Autonomous Region People's Hospital, said: "The plateau medical research institute has done a lot of work in safeguarding the health of people in Tibet these years; tens of thousands of domestic and foreign tourists have been treated promptly and accurately, including patients from nearly 30 countries. Nowadays, more and more people come to Tibet to travel or for work, not only to appreciate the natural scenery of Tibet, but also to experience the development of Tibet's medical and health undertakings."
