Winter inspection of Ngari forest covers 5300 km

Starting from December 25th of 2018, the Bureau of Forestry Police of Tibet Autonomous Region and the Qiangtang National Nature Reserve have jointly launched a winter inspection program. The inspection team has surveyed over 5300 km within the Qiangtang National Nature Reserve in Ngari, and has found no violations. 

Ngari is located in western Tibet Autonomous Region and southwestern part of China. The Qiangtang National Nature Reserve, located in Ngari, has wildlife including Tibetan antelopes, wild yaks, Tibetan donkeys, and Tibetan goa, etc., as well as a diverse range of wild plants. 

This program was aimed to counteract all kinds of criminal behaviors which harm forests, wildlife, and plants, as well as improving the inspection of wildlife including birds.  

As of now, the winter inspection program for priority locations inside the region has mostly been completed, and there were no violations including illegal hunting, trespassing, and illegal digging.

The inspection team are patrolling in the Qiangtang National Nature Reserve.

The inspection team are conducting educational activities.
