Tibet hopes to achieve annual afforestation of 60,000 hectares

Tibet will strive to achieve an average annual afforestation of more than 60,000 hectares by 2020, with urban per capita green space of over 15 square meters and village green coverage rate of no less than 25% to build "forest city" and promote shelter-forest system construction and desertification prevention and control projects, according to information from the regional forestry department.

Last year, Tibet achieved a forest planting of 55,860 hectares and nursing of 24,500 hectares, converted 3000 hectares of farmland into forest and complete desertification prevention and control for 92,500 hectares.
