Tibet sets up Animation & Comic Association, boosts industry growth

The Animation & Comic Association of the Tibet Autonomous Region was founded on September 13th, to boost development of the industry.

Many cultural enterprises are striving to showcase Tibetan culture by animation& comic and films & televisions programs.

There are more than 10 cultural enterprises engaged in the animation and comic industry in Tibet. In addition, the Animation & Comic Industry Base was also established in August, 2016, which has been selected to the programs that can get the special fund of national cultural industry.   

The association will build an investment and financial service platform and a promotion platform for animation & comic products, fully explore Tibetan culture resources and maximize the value of the industry via cooperation in various fields in the next three to five years, expressed Li Suping, President of the Animation & Comic Association of the Tibet Autonomous Region.  

 

Some Tibetan culture-themed animation & comic products have received acclaim in recent years. The first animated cartoons featuring King Gesar, The Legend of King Gesar, was launched this year, with 50-plus episodes planned.   

"The Tibet's cultural industry has flourished and launched excellent cultural products such as Princess Wencheng so as to enrich the cultural life of the people, since the '12th Five-Year Plan(2011-2015)'," said Zangpo, Deputy Director of the Cultural Department of Tibet Autonomous Region. The establishment of the Animation & Comic Association sets up a stage for development of the industry with a Tibetan cultural theme, he added.
