Student Mountaineers of Xiamen University to challenge mountains in Tibet

Nine students from Xiamen University in Fujian Province will challenge the Kalu Peak which has an elevation of 6,674 meters, according to the Sports Bureau of the Tibet Autonomous Region.

The Xiamen University mountaineering team is a well-known university climbing team nationwide, it has topped the Chola Mountain in Sichuan and the Gela Dandong Peak in Qinghai, etc.

To ensure safety, 3 experienced coaches will accompany the mountaineers, guiding and providing technical and safety supports to them.

Located in the joint section of Gyantse County in Shigatse and Nakartse County in Shannan, the Kalu Peak is called the " Goddess of Wisdom" by the local people, it is surrounded by more than 20 peaks above 6000 meters.
