Tobgye becomes the first Tibetan to enter the Olympic track and field project

On July 18th, 2016 the Chinese athlete representative team assembly convened at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing for the Rio Olympics. Tobgye, the well known middle distance runner from Tibet is listed as one of the athletes on the Chinese marathon team. This is the first time since the archery contestant Tobgye participated in the Seoul olympics in 1988 that there has been a Tibetan athlete contesting, making it the second Tibetan athlete ever as well as the first ever to compete in the track and field category.

Tobgye was born in Dagze county of Lhasa city in 1994. Since 2012, through vigorous participation in a variety of different class competitions within China and internationally Tobgye  has refined his  ability and achieved the championship prize in many of these competitions.
