Qinghai becomes ideal living place for snow leopards

With improvements of monitoring equipment, signs of snow leopards and their activities have been monitored in more than half of all of northwest China's Qinghai Province. The scope of snow leopard activity is growing.

According to statistics, currently, snow leopards are distributed in half of all counties in Qinghai Province. Areas where snow leopards have a wide distribution include Yushu, Golog, Qilian, Menyuan, Gonghe, and Huzhu. The number of areas where snow leopards are found is also increasing: there have been traces of snow leopards in Dulan, Tianjun, and Delingha in Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. The natural climate conditions of these areas is more suitable for snow leopards' survival, and improvements of local nomads' awareness of protecting snow leopards has also been conducive to their survival and reproduction.
