France becomes largest importer of Qinghai organic wolfberries
In the first 10 months of the year 2018, northwest China's Qinghai Province exported 19.99 million yuan (2.91 million US dollars) of wolfberries, of which 10.73 million yuan (1.56 million US dollars) of that was exported to France, a year-on-year increase of 53.7 percent. France has become the largest importer of organic wolfberries from Qinghai Province.
Qinghai organic wolfberries are produced in Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Prefecture, the second largest wolfberry planting base in China. It is located in the hinterland of the Tsaidam Basin on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Here, there is no pollution source within a radius of 300 square kilometers. The climate is unique; occurrences of pests and diseases are extremely small, so the amount and frequency of pesticide use is low. It is a natural ecological area where wolfberries can grow.
It is reported that Qinghai wolfberries are rich in carotene, thiamine, riboflavin, ascorbic acid, calcium, phosphorus, and iron, and they are highly sought after in the international market.
