Tibet's first cultural tourism park upgraded to national cultural export base

On June 14th, Tibet's first cultural tourism park in Lhasa, the Tibet Cultural Tourism Innovation Park, received the honor of becoming a national cultural tourism export base.

According to Yang Guoliang, deputy Chief of the Department of Commerce of Tibet Autonomous Region, by 2020, this park will produce an estimated cultural export amount of three hundred million yuan (45 million US dollars), a growth of 200%, and 50% of its cultural products will have their own intellectual property rights.

The Tibet Cultural Tourism Innovation Park has a total planned area of eight sq km, and an investment of 30 billion yuan (4.5 billion US dollars). Construction began in 2012. Priority projects such as the indoor performing stage for historical drama Princess Jincheng, and the Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum of Tibet, began in March of 2017. In 2014, the park received the designation of "National Cultural Industry Demo (Test) Park" and was recognized as a "National Industrialization Base for the Modern Service Industry" in 2015.

According to Lobsang Nyima, director of the Management Committee of the park, the park aims to complete 40-plus projects in the next three years, cultivating 30 cultural and technology integration demo enterprises, and to have 40 new cultural enterprises settled in the park, with new employees employed at these cultural industry enterprises accounting for 75% of the people at the park.
