China Tibetannet Since the Qinghai-Tibet Railway's launch in July 1, Tibet has received near 940 million yuan (117.5 million US dollars) tourism income till the end of August.
About 390,000 tourists visit Tibet in this July, up by 50 percent year-on-year. It took over 430 million yuan (83.75 million US dollars) to Tibet, up by 43.7 percent year-on-year. In August, Tibet saw another 500 million yuan (about 62.5 million US dollars) tourism income, up by 53.5 percent.
Statistics from Tibet Tourism Bureau show that, Tibetan tourism income reached 1.46 billion yuan (about 182.5 million US dollars) by receiving 1.5 million tourists from January to August in 2006. |
